AWARD CEREMONY + FILM honoring Pt. RAVI SHANKAR at the Asia Society Today at 6:30 PM

Award Ceremony and Film Screening introduced by Philip Glass. Asia Society honors one of Asia's greatest living artists, sitar master Ravi Shankar, with a Legacy Award.
 
Asia Society presents Ravi Shankar with a Cultural Legacy Award followed by a special screening of the re-release and DVD premiere of the 1971 film Raga: A Film Journey into the Soul of India which documented the life of Ravi Shankar in the late 1960's and 1970 as he revisited his guru Bab Ustad Allauddin Khan and performed across Europe and the United States, initiating Western audiences into the exceptional world of classical Indian music. DVDs of Raga will be on sale.

UPDATE, 10/29:
Ravi Shankar deeply regrets that he cannot attend the award ceremony due to illness. His daughter Anoushka Shankar will accept the award on his behalf.
